• Canton Takes Aim At Local Massage Parlor Rules (patch.com) — Canton’s Board of Selectmen has unanimously repealed a long-unused 1975 ordinance that required local approval for massage parlor permits, concluding it is unnecessary because the state already licenses and oversees massage therapists. Officials, including First Selectman Kevin Witkos, said the rule never helped address concerns like sex trafficking, while a resident urged revising rather than dropping local oversight as the town considers broader adult entertainment regulations.
   

• Canton Seeks Part-Time Recording Clerk To Preserve Meeting Records (patch.com) — Canton is hiring a part-time recording clerk to take minutes at town meetings, averaging about 10 hours a month at $21.65 per hour, mostly in the evenings. If you’re detail-oriented and interested in local government, you can apply by sending your application and resume to the Town of Canton’s Market Street address or the listed email until the position is filled.
