Canton Voters To Decide Funds For Three Nonprofits

A town meeting is slated Wednesday to seek funds to help the Roaring Brook Nature Center, a health-care site, and an autism organization.

CANTON, CT — Voters this week have some work to do at a special town meeting slated for Wednesday, June 12, regarding improvements at multiple Canton nonprofits.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. in Room F of the Canton Public Library & Community Center, which is located at 40 Dyer Ave., Canton.

There, voters will decide to seek federal Neighborhood Assistance Act funding for three projects aimed at improving/maintaining local nonprofits.

They are:

• $100,000 for New Horizons Inc. to install energy-efficient windows at the Cherry Brook Health Care Center.

• $33,733 for the FOCUS Center for Autism to install solar panels at the site.

• $50,738 for The Children's Museum, Inc. (dba the Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton) for energy-efficient lighting replacements and upgrades.
