Collinsville Street Fair To Showcase Canton's Arts Scene

The event, sponsored by Canton Main Street, is from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 15. Parking restrictions on Main Street will apply.

CANTON, CT — With Mother Nature fully expected to cooperate Saturday with gorgeous weather, the timing of the annual Collinsville Summer Street Fair couldn't be better.

On Saturday, June 15, the historic village in Canton will be transformed into a relaxing, exciting, tasty, and inspirational cultural hub of small-town life from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event, sponsored by Canton Main Street LLC and other benefactors, will feature local artisans, games, food, contests, and a lot of music/performances.

The day's music ends after 6 p.m. when the group "Poor Nephews" plays a concert on Main Street, the last of seven different performers expected to provide a soundtrack for the day.

Other highlights include Canton's Poet Laureate, Virginia Shreve, the "Corn Hole Fight Club," a Chalk Walk on Main Street, and lots of arts and crafts.

The street fair coincides with a Juneteenth celebration in nearby Simsbury and the Collinsville Farmers Market on Sunday, making for a weekend full of fun.

Canton police Friday issued a parking alert for the event, saying that no parking will be allowed on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday due to the street fair.

The impacted area is Main Street between Front and River streets, police said.
