Community Supports 2013 CHS Graduates

Last Saturday night proved to be successful for the 2013 Substance Free Graduation Party committee for Canton High School.  Two Hundred people filled 41 Bridge Street in Collinsville for an evening of great food, comedy and fabulous raffle prizes. The event raised $8,500 and was the largest single fundraiser event in 20 years which marked a great start for the party being held at Farmington Farms on June 21. 

Special guest Joe Furey, Chief Meteorologist for FOX CT news was emcee for the evening.  CIS 6th grade teacher, Patrick Allen and Principal of CBPS, Andy Robbins both members of The Substitutes, donated their time to play acoustic guitar music during the dinner hour. Comedian headliner Frank Vignola, top bill comic from New York City along with three other NYC comedians, had the crowd roaring!  

Holly Neddermann, SFG committee member and the event co-ordinator said, "It was the easiest event to plan because of the generousity from the Canton community."

The event was sold out within three weeks of the announcement and the staff at 41 Bridge Street, Pat Ryan, Patrick Lane and Owner Gary Carillo were most accommodating in making this event a success. Cardillo donated an additional $500 to the CHS SFG party committee.

• Chico's fundraiser — May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Shoppes (Mention the class of 2013 and 10 percent of sales will benefit the event.
• Cow Pie Raffle — Memorial Day, May 27 at 1 p.m. at Bicentennial Field.  Ticket are $5 each.  1st prize = $500, 2nd prize = $150, 3rd prize = $50, 4th prize = $50 gift card at Shop Rite, 5th prize = $25 gift card at Chipotle Mexican Grill.  Contact Sue Allen at sooze.allen@comcast.netfor tickets.
