Dems Endorse Kavros DeGraw For Re-Election To CT House

CANTON, CT — Democrats in Connecticut's 17th house district have officially endorsed State Rep. Eleni Kavros DeGraw, who is running for re-election, as their candidate in the 2022 election.

Kavros DeGraw is seeking her second term in office and was endorsed during a convention at the Canton community room on Wednesday.

The representative's platform includes protecting access to abortion, voting rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, aiding the district's veterans and "continuing to make fiscally sound decisions for the state," officials said in a news release.

"I think that what was really solidified for me was making sure that I ran as me and only me, and that when I brought all of you with me and all of your voices with me to [Hartford] that it was critically important that I stay a workhorse and only a workhorse," Kavros DeGraw said in her acceptance speech.

Kavros DeGraw announced in January that she would seek re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives.

Her district, CT-17, is made up of Canton and most of Avon. She was first elected in November 2020, when she earned 51.8 percent of the vote, beating Republican Leslee Hill's 48.2 percent, according to Ballotpedia.

Currently, Kavros DeGraw is the vice chair of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, and a member of the Public Health and Energy and Technology Committees.
