CANTON, CT — In a letter to parents following the mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas, Canton Superintendent of Schools Kevin Case said more police officers will be stationed at the district's school buildings in the coming weeks.

"You will see additional police presence at each of our schools over the next several weeks as a safety precaution," Case wrote in his letter, saying also that the school system conducts practice drills and has safety and security protocols in place.

Case didn't specify the number of officers who will be stationed at schools, or for how long the increased police presence will last.
