Finger-Snapping Good Time Expected At Canton Beat Poetry Fest
The National Beat Poetry Foundation is hosting a three-day festival that starts in Canton soon.

CANTON, CT — Those with a soft spot for Jack Kerouac might want to head over to Canton Town Hall on Friday night, Aug. 29, and be prepared to snap their fingers.
That's because the National Beat Poetry Foundation, which is located in Collinsville/Barkhamsted, is hosting the first day of its three-day "2025 National & International Beat Poetry Festival."
Myriad performers are slated at the Canton Town Hall auditorium, 4 Market St., Collinsville (Canton) from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Friday.

There, beat poet laureates will perform their work, which not only features words but also some music to accompany the poets' works.
The three-day event then continues in Barkhamsted at 22 River Road, Barkhamsted (Pleasant Valley) from noon to 9 p.m. outdoors on Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the same site.

The Barkhamsted events will feature an open microphone along with additional poet laureate performers.
Admission to the events is free, but donations will be gladly accepted by attendees.
