Heat Wave Alert Issued In Canton

The Town of Canton Tuesday urged folks to be safe during the expected heat wave this week and seek a cooling center if necessary.

CANTON, CT — Canton officials Tuesday issued a series of safety tips and warnings associated with this week's heat wave.

With temperatures expected to be well into the 90s and high humidity making it feel even warmer, the Town of Canton will have cooling centers available for residents.

The centers, officials said, are at the following locations and times:

• Canton Community Center; 40 Dyer Ave., Canton; Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Canton Public Library; 40 Dyer Ave., Canton; Monday: 10 a.m. to 5 pm.; Tuesday - Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday: 10 a.m.to 3 p.m.

The town cooling centers have water faucets, but residents are asked to bring their food.

"Please remember to also bring medications, emergency contact phone numbers, and any other items you may need during the day/Service dogs are always welcome," wrote the Town of Canton.
