CANTON, CT — A major shopping destination is Canton is kicking off the Christmas season this weekend with a massive start to the festivities.

The Shops at Farmington Valley, located at 110 Albany Turnpike (Route 44), will officially welcome the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 22.

It will feature a "festive lineup of events and experiences designed to delight guests of all ages," according to The Shops.

"Blending timeless New England charm with modern sophistication, the property invites the community to rediscover the wonder, warmth, and magic of the season," wrote The Shops in an event announcement.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy a series of memorable happenings, including:

• Jingle Bell Trolley with the Avon/Canton Chamber

A spirited ride around The Shops, complete with holiday music, seasonal cheer, and a dose of small-town magic. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Wreath-Making Workshop with Sur La Table

An elevated hands-on workshop where guests can craft their own festive wreath to brighten their home for the holidays: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Family Fun: Harvest Sweets at Sur La Table

A sweet celebration perfect for families, featuring seasonal treats, interactive fun, and flavorful surprises. 1 to 3 p.m.

• Your Bag, Your Canvas with FP Movement

A special collaboration with artist Brigid Carey, where guests can choose from three unique hand-painted designs created exclusively for FP Movement’s signature quilted bag. Noon to 4 p.m.

• Holiday Stroll + Tree Lighting (3:30 to 5 p.m.)

The Shops’ beloved annual tradition returns with live music, holiday treats, and the magical moment when the property’s towering tree lights up the night and officially ushers in the season.

The Shops at Farmington Valley recently unveiled a new entrance off Secret Lake Road, providing guests with direct and convenient access to the property.

Combined with expansive free parking, including a large lot behind Barnes & Noble, the center ensures stress-free visits throughout the bustling season, according to The Shops.

“From beloved traditions to new conveniences, every detail has been designed to make the holidays feel effortlessly special this year,” said Elizabeth Ackerman, general manager of The Shops at Farmington Valley. “The new Secret Lake Road entrance makes it easier than ever to visit, park, and enjoy everything The Shops has to offer during this magical time of year.”

Guests can also elevate their holiday outing with curbside grocery pickup from ShopRite, located on the property.

By ordering through the ShopRite app, shoppers can wrap up their day by picking up pre-ordered groceries after finishing their shopping.

As the season continues, The Shops will celebrate Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, honoring local retailers through its annual “Small But Mighty” campaign.

The initiative spotlights the small businesses that bring authenticity, heart, and craftsmanship to the center, accompanied by a lineup of seasonal events that celebrate community connection.
