CANTON, CT — Canton motorists are being warned that the town will be flooded with classic cars and motorcycles during the day on Saturday.

Saturday is the headline event of the Cheshire-based Hometown Foundation's "Dread Ride Experience" weekend — a three-day festival from Friday to Sunday to benefit the foundation's charities.

That event will feature a "Dream Cruise" of classic cars/trucks as well as a "Dread Ride" featuring motorcycles.

While it originates from the Farmington Polo Club at 11 a.m., both convoys will go right through several area towns, including Canton, requiring a bit of patience from local drivers.

The Bike Walk Canton organization said the convoys will also impact hikers and bikers on the Farmington River Trail.

"You may experience a long delay crossing at River Road," wrote the organization. "Lots of people participate in this event. They probably will be going through between noon and 12:30 but this is a guess."

Local officials, including the Canton Police Department, are asking motorists to check a map of the route online if they plan on traveling through the area on Saturday.
