Giv Coffee is owned and operated by Emily and Jeff Brooks. The couple began the business approximately four years ago in Torrington with the idea of giving back. Two dollars from every bag of coffee goes toward social efforts.

Currently, the Brooks’ are supporting an orphanage/food security effort in Nicaragua, Creative Life Foundation in Bangkok, an organization that works against human trafficking, and the summer youth camp sponsored by Hartford City Mission.

The cafe, which has indoor and outdoor seating, will be open six days a week and the coffee will be roasted right on site. In addition to coffee and related drinks, teas, cold drinks, and light fare will be sold. Among the food to be sold will be goods baked on site, fruit, and regional products.

Bagged coffee will also be available for purchase, and the products are also available at farmers’ markets, stores, and restaurants.
