CONNECTICUT — A half-century after passage of Title IX legislation, brackets have been released for what would have been the 50th Connecticut high school field hockey tournaments. The coronavirus pandemic resulted in no postseason play in 2020, making this year the 49th edition of competition since the inaugural tournament was won by Granby in 1973.

A total of 56 teams qualified for the tournaments, including 15 from Hartford and Tolland counties. Play-in games are slated for Monday; first-round action in Classes M and S is set for Tuesday; and Class L competition begins Wednesday.

The finals are slated for Saturday, Nov. 19 at Wethersfield High School. Defending champions are New Canaan (L), Guilford (M) and North Branford (S).
