Canton HS About To Go Solar
The project has already received the blessing of the Canton Energy Committee.

CANTON, CT — Canton High School is going sustainable and solar after selectmen last month authorized the town manager to enter into an agreement to install solar panels and vehicle charging stations at CHS.
The Canton Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Dec. 14 to allow Canton Chief Administrative Officer Robert Skinner to enter into a letter of intent with Earthlight Technologies to put rooftop solar panels and EV charging stations at Canton High School's parking lot.
Skinner is, also, authorized to sign necessary documents to apply for energy incentives to support the project.

The proposal is for adding an additional 278kw to the existing system of 120-130kw along with installing four electric vehicle chargers in the parking lot along with a new meter.
The next steps would be to prepare for solar incentive applications, which are due in February and further engineering site visits to finalize the installation plan, costs and configuration for the new service, solar equipment and EV (electric vehicle) chargers.
Hartmann said the letter of intent gives an out-of-pocket not to exceed $12,000 which included the $5,000 required by Eversource.
