CANTON, CT — A local road race on Sunday is expected to cause some traffic disruptions in the morning, according to the Canton Police Department.
The 2025 Lobster Loop 5K Road Race will take place Sunday, Aug. 24, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., with local police warning motorists of potential traffic impacts.
Police said, between the hours of 7 and 10:30 a.m., Dowd Avenue will be closed to all through vehicle traffic.

"Please allow extra travel time and use caution as there will be a lot of runners participating," wrote the CPD, adding that folks can expect delays and detours.

Race starts at Canton Green Road (Dowd Ave. and Canton Springs Rd.)
• West on Dowd Avenue
• North onto East Hill
• West on Simonds Avenue
• South on Dyer Avenue
• East on Allen Place
• North on Hill Street
• East on Gildersleeve Road
• East on Simonds Avenue
• South on East Hill Road
• East on Dowd Avenue
• Race ends at Canton Green Road
