James L. Mertz, 85, died on Nov. 6, 2025, and is survived in memory as a biochemist whose career included scientific leadership roles in pharmaceutical research across several states and whose retirement was devoted to gardening, church activities, community service, and work with the Cheshire Land Trust and Ives Farm.

Helen “Pinkie” M. Gordon, 92, died on Nov. 8, 2025. She was a longtime Yacht Club regular and enthusiastic movie fan whose interests ranged from Sci-Fi and Disney to classics and horror, and who also enjoyed cooking and frequent lunches at Vespucci’s Restaurant.

John M. Alexander, 69, died on Nov. 9, 2025. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and transportation industry professional who, in retirement, founded Hucklebarry Hill English Labrador Retrievers and remained active in multiple kennel clubs while enthusiastically discussing his dogs and countless other topics.

Maria Esposito, 94, died on Nov. 10, 2025. She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, whose life was defined by love, faith, and family.

Mary Gail (Scanlon) Mongillo, 89, died on Nov. 10, 2025. She was a librarian, substitute teacher, active parishioner, avid reader and book-club co-founder, dedicated golfer who helped lead the Ladies Tuesday Golf League, and an enthusiastic traveler proud of her Irish heritage.

Herbert C. Micker Jr., 84, died on Nov. 13, 2025. He was a U.S. Army veteran, American Legion member, longtime mechanic and “Mr. Fix-It” who worked for Mitchell Cadillac and enjoyed coaching his daughter’s softball teams.
