Cheshire’s Season Ends In Class L Football Championship Game

Cheshire took on top-seeded New Canaan in the CIAC Class L championship game on Saturday.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire football team’s season came to an end with a 34-13 loss to top-seeded New Canaan in the CIAC Class L championship game Saturday at Veterans Stadium in New Britain.

Third-seeded Cheshire had advanced to the finals with a 21-0 semifinal victory over seventh-seeded Ridgefield, and a thrilling last-second 32-29 comeback victory over Fairfield Ludlowe in the quarterfinals.

With the win, New Canaan claimed its fourth straight Class L championship.

Cheshire senior quarterback Aidan Gregorich ran for a touchdown and connected with Liam Suomala on an 11-yard touchdown pass, according to GameTimeCT.

Gregorich finished with 141 yards rushing and a touchdown, while completing 12-of-23 passes for 105 yards, according to the CIAC.
