Occupation:

Lawyer

Family:
I am married to Paullette Todisco. I have three grown children, Jill, Joseph, and Amy and five grandchildren.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
None of us work in Cheshire. I am a lawyer with the Connecticut Department of Education.

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Yes. I have served on the Cheshire Zoning Board of Appeals and the Cheshire Planning and Zoning Commission for a total of 26 years.

Why are you seeking this office?
I believe in public service. I think that persons who have the time and energy to do so should take an active role in developing a strong community. I also believe in the electoral process we have at all levels of government in the United States

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Quality of life. I will work to maintain public safety, good schools, and other town services, and promote economic development to help pay for these services. I will be mindful of the tax burden that these matters impose on residents of our town.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have published my telephone number (203-707-0666) and email address (lbtodisco@outlook.com) in campaign literature. If elected I want to hear from constituents. In fairness to others, I will acknowledge that other candidates also strive to be available.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
The importance of showing leadership through persuasion, consensus building, and respect for others. These are foundational values.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I believe that I was a competent member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning and Zoning Commission. These positions are different from that of a member of the Town Council, but they required the ability to focus on the public welfare in the context of a regulatory framework and to listen to and consider divergent public views and needs. I believe that these are important qualities for a member of the Town Council. I was also the President of the Cheshire High School Athletic Boosters Club for several years.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
I have had great advice from many people. The sum total of this advice is that we better achieve our goals, and make a better world, by striving to act with courtesy, respect, and kindness toward others.
