Cheshire Resident Receives GNAC Weekly Honors

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire’s Karla Carangelo, a freshman on the Albertus Magnus College women’s softball team, was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honor roll for her performance for games played through Sunday, March 23.

Teammate Mikaela Scwhippert, of Whippany, New Jersey, was also named to the honor roll.

Carangelo, a Cheshire High School graduate, went 5-for-6 at the plate with an .833 batting average with three RBIs and two stolen bases in a doubleheader sweep of Mass Maritime on Sunday. She is batting .371 with one home run and seven RBIs through the first 12 games.

Scwhippert collected four hits with a .667 batting average, including two doubles and three RBIs. Through the first 12 games, she is batting .405 with nine RBIs and seven runs scored.
