Cheshire High School Student Cross Country Athlete Quad Captain & Senior Daniel D’Souza ran with the best and top runners on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the CIAC Cross Country State Open Championships at Manchester’s Wickham Park. He fitted right into that group of accomplished and high calibre runners on Monday. D’Souza finished #86 with a time of 17:25. That is no small feat. D’Souza had a remarkable season as the top runner of the CHS Boys Varsity Cross Country Team for his senior and final year as a Ram Runner. He logged in a lot of running over last summer to prepare for the season that just ended. As a result he was always the first Cheshire Student Cross Country Athlete to complete the race first at every meet this season including the warm-up for the season the annual New Haven Labor Day 5K Road Race.
His Head Boys Cross Country Coach Pam Gunneson was pleased with his run at the State Open on Monday, November 6, 2023 in Manchester. “I am very proud of Daniel’s place and finish! He has had an excellent season! His teammates were all there cheering him on,” stated Gunneson.
