CHESHIRE, CT — Old Bishop Farms in Cheshire will be reopening under new ownership, the owners announced on Monday.

The owners had announced in January that the historic farm was closing and they were looking to sell to someone who would keep it as a working farm.

“Great news! We have found somebody to take over!” they wrote in a post on the Old Bishop Farms’ Facebook page on Monday. “Stay tuned for updates on opening. Please support the new team if you want farms to stay!”

Old Bishop Farm, located at 500 South Meriden Rd., is a historic farm that was founded in the 1700s and was renovated by new owners from 2016-2018.

“John and Carolyn Torello purchased this historic, bicentennial farm in 2015,” reads a post on the Old Bishop Farm website. “While the farm has long been an iconic location in Cheshire and place for CT families to visit, it had fallen into disrepair. The farm was shut down for 2 years to renovate the building and property, reopening in the fall of 2018. The country store/gift shop is a throw back to classic New England.”
