Road Closures Announced For Half Marathon, 5K In Cheshire, Hamden
Police are advising motorists of several road closures and detours that will be in effect for a road race in Cheshire & Hamden this weekend.
CHESHIRE, CT — Police are advising motorists of several road closures and detours that will be in effect for a road race in Cheshire and Hamden this weekend.
The Ion Bank Cheshire Half Marathon and 5K will take place in Cheshire and Hamden on Sunday, April 21. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to continue until at least 12:30 p.m., according to police.
“This race requires many road closures and detours to allow for a safe environment for the competitors and spectators,” police wrote in a news release.

The affected roads are in the southern portion of Cheshire and include, but are not limited to, South Main Street, Higgins Road, Oak Avenue, Cornwall Avenue, Ward Lane, Mountain Road, North and South Brooksvale Road, Mt. Sanford Road, Avon Boulevard, and most side streets off of these main through roads, along with Brooksvale Road and River Road in Hamden.
“Please make necessary arrangements to avoid the area if possible,” police wrote. “Numerous officers will be located throughout the race route and traffic detour to assist with the traffic and pedestrian traffic.”

The detour is set up for traffic to flow northbound along Route 10/South Main Street; southbound along Mountain Road, North and South Brooksvale Road, Mt. Sanford Road; westbound along Route 68/West Main Street; and eastbound along River Road in Hamden.
