U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy Puts Cheshire Home On The Market

Murphy, who was recently elected to a second term in the U.S. Senate, has put his home in Cheshire up for sale.

CHESHIRE, CT — U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., recently put his Cheshire home on the market, according to the New Haven Register. Murphy cruised to a second term in the U.S. Senate with a victory over Republican challenger Matthew Corey in last November’s election. Murphy’s home on Paulney Road in Cheshire was put up for sale late last week, according to the listing on Realtor.com.

Murphy, who is married to Catherine Holahan, told the Register that they haven’t made any final decisions but are “exploring options” that would allow them to be closer to extended family and work, adding that they have loved raising their kids in Cheshire.

The asking price for the home, which was built in 1951, is $519,900. It last sold for $478,000 in 2010, according to the listing on Realtor.com. The home, which features 2,550-sqaure feet of livable space on 1.1 acres, has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms.

Murphy served three terms in Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives before being elected to the U.S. Senate. He also served for eight years in the Connecticut General Assembly.

Murphy, who grew up in Wethersfield, attended Williams College in Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law and practiced real estate and banking law with the firm of Ruben, Johnson & Morgan in Hartford.
