Whole Foods "Chills" for EPA
The so-called "GreenChill Partnership" with the federal Environmental Protection Agency acknowledged Whole Foods for reductions in refrigerant emissions which harm the ozone layer.

Whole Foods Market, which has a distribution center in Cheshire, has been recognized by the federal Environmental Protection Agency for its efforts to reduce refrigerant emissions in its stores.
The "GreenChill Partnership," acknowledged the efforts of Whole Foods with the "Most Improved Emissions Rate" Award. It stems from a dramatic reduction in the release of chlorofluorocarbons contained in refrigerants which damage the ozone layer.
"Whole Foods’ efforts to stop refrigerant leaks led to a 17 percent reduction in the company’s refrigerant emissions rate in one year," said Keilly Witman, Manager of EPA’s GreenChill Partnership. "Whole Foods’ efforts show that it is possible to make significant gains in environmental protection in a short period of time when a company prioritizes emissions reductions," Witman added.
