We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "People not paying attention to crosswalks."
  • "I second the people don't know how to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. I've even been driving before and I would stop to let someone cross and people have swerved to go around me on the right. I try and avoid crossing the road if possible."
  • "Lack of sidewalks, aside from the shore area"
  • "Speeding and running stop signs"
  • "The speed people go over the rail road bridge on Liberty Street!"
  • "Liberty Street trying to get out on Route 1."
  • "The crappy intersection at Route 1 and Route 81 with the lights that cause traffic to back up for a mile each direction, then the state decides it wants to repave a part of Route 1 in broad daylight on top of that which backs up traffic yet another mile."
  • "Getting off Exit 63 coming north. If you don't live in Clinton you have no idea what lane to be in, and nobody knows that both lanes turn left not once but twice. I almost get sideswiped everyday getting off there."
