2 Danbury Men Arrested for Selling Cocaine Near an Elementary School

After a weeks-long investigation, Danbury police arrested two city men for the alleged sale of narcotics near South Street School.

Danbury, CT — Two city men were arrested on June 22 for the alleged sale of narcotics, according to Danbury police.

The Special Investigations Division, working with members of the Danbury Police Department, executed court authorized search and seizure warrants for Warner Nunez in response to complaints from concerned citizens regarding Nunez selling illegal drugs, police said.

After an investigation, police used surveillance of Nunez, as well as other investigative techniques, and detected activity consistent with drug trafficking.

Police said a warrant was executed after Nunez and Castillo were seen in a vehicle driven by an adult female, within the parking lot of the Danbury Commons, 51 Main Street in Danbury. The location is near South Street Elementary School. Police said they found Nunez in possession of powder cocaine packaged for sale. Castillo was also found to be in possession of powder cocaine, police said.

Both Nunez and Castillo were arrested for the below listed offenses and transported to the Danbury Police Department where they were processed and held for cash bonds pending release or arraignment.

Waner Nunez, 29, of 11 Hillside Street, Danbury, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school/housing and possession of narcotic with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school/housing. His bond was set at $25,000.

Edwin Castillo, 45, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school/housing. His bond was set at $5,000.
