Convicted Felon From Danbury Found With Gun, Drugs: Bethel PD
Police say the man was found asleep behind the wheel of a running car.

BETHEL, CT — A convicted felon from Danbury was arrested after he was found sleeping behind the wheel of a running car on Hunting Ridge Lane Sunday morning, according to police. Antonio Veiga, 45, was found with a crack pipe between his legs and a gun in a bag behind his driver's seat, according to Bethel Police.
Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at 5:36 a.m.and found the pipe, gun, an additional pipe for smoking marijuana and crack cocaine, as well as one gram of crack cocaine.

Veiga had a suspended license and is prohibited from owning a handgun as a convicted felon. There was also a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court. Veiga had pled guilty to charges of burglary in the third degree and a probation violation in May of 2016, court records show.
He was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, criminal possession of a pistol and failure to appear. He was held on a $10,000 for the above charges and $50,000 for failing to appear.

At arraignment Monday, Veiga pled not guilty to the charges and was held on a $5,000 bond. He is due in court for a pre-trial hearing on July 24.
