Crash In Front Of Mall Leads To Act Of Kindness In Danbury

The police and fire departments teamed up to help a family in need after the crash.

DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Fire Department - CT and the Police Department both went above and beyond to help a family in need this weekend.

In a social media post, the fire department wrote, "Sometimes a little customer service is all that is needed... On Saturday, May 17th a motor vehicle accident occurred in front of the mall. Fortunately, no one was injured. However, both vehicles were damaged enough to be towed. One operator had an issue, because she had a car load of groceries from Costco, and her husband was an hour away. DPD Officer Will Sample offered his police cruiser as a transporter, so Captain Ted Mourges and his crew from Engine 26, assisted Ofc Sample and the other Officers to transfer the goods over to Shake Shack where the family could enjoy a snack, and await their ride back home...Again, sometimes it's the little things. . . . ."

The Police Department wrote: "We’re proud of Officer Sample for going the extra mile today and helping this community member after a tough day. Thanks Danbury Fire Department for the shoutout and for always having our back!"
