Danbury To Celebrate Grand Opening Of Its First Free Little Art Gallery On Main Street
Danbury will cut the ribbon July 16 on its first Free Little Art Gallery, a public mini-exhibit outside Mothership Bakery.

DANBURY, CT — CityCenter Danbury will unveil the city's first Free Little Art Gallery on July 16, marking a new addition to the downtown streetscape that aims to make art more accessible to the public.
The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. in front of Mothership Bakery at 331 Main St. The event will feature remarks from Mayor Roberto Alves and members of CityCenter’s Arts & Aesthetics Committee, which spearheaded the project.
Modeled after the Little Free Library movement, the Free Little Art Gallery — or F.L.A.G. — invites the public to “take a piece, leave a piece” of art. Visitors will find an ever-changing assortment of miniature paintings, sculptures, collages and other handmade works donated by local artists and community members.

“This project has been a dream for so long, and we’re so proud to see it come to life right here in our downtown,” said Lazaro Chavez, executive director of CityCenter Danbury.
"What started as a creative spark within our Arts & Aesthetics Committee, has now grown into a colorful reality! Thanks to their passion and vision, and to the incredible people who’ve already donated pieces, we’re launching a space that’s full of inspiration and community pride. This is the first of many artistic moments to come … tiny in size, but huge in heart."

The July 16 celebration will also include interactive art tables for attendees to create and donate their own miniature artworks, as well as light refreshments provided by Mothership Bakery.
Organizers say the Danbury F.L.A.G. is the first of several planned community art installations aimed at promoting sustainable, grassroots creativity. The gallery is designed to be enjoyed by all, regardless of whether visitors choose to contribute a piece.
