Danbury firefighter Paul Perrotti is the only member of the DFD to earn both career and volunteer firefighter honors

DANBURY, CT — Firefighter Paul Perrotti has been named the Danbury Fire Department’s 2025 Firefighter of the Year, becoming the only member of the department to earn both career and volunteer firefighter honors.
A longtime city resident and graduate of Abbott Tech, Perrotti began his service with Volunteer Company 11, where he was previously recognized as Volunteer Firefighter of the Year.

Perrotti is known for his teamwork and willingness to step into new roles. When the position of Chief’s Aide was created, he was the first to volunteer, seeking additional training and leadership experience. His knowledge of Danbury’s roadways earned him the nickname “GPS” (Global Perrotti System), and his coordination during emergencies has been cited by instructors as exemplary.
Outside of his work, Perrotti lives in Bethel with his wife, Melissa, and their two children. The couple recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. Their son, Jordan, attends Eastern Connecticut State University, while their daughter, Emma, is a freshman at Western Connecticut State University.
