Danbury High School Graduate, Gilbert M. Brown, 67, Passed Away

DANBURY, CT — Gilbert M. Brown, son of Georgette Y. Brown of Danbury and of the late Gilbert H. Brown, died August 9, 2016 peacefully at his home in Wolcott, Connecticut, following a long illness. Gilbert was 67 years old.

Gilbert was born and raised in Danbury and graduated from Danbury High School in 1968. Gilbert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 – 1972 and with the U.S. Army from 1980 – 1984. In between military service from which he received honorable discharge, Gilbert graduated from Western Connecticut State College in 1978 with a BA in History/Social Science. Thereafter, Gilbert graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1985 with a degree in Legal Studies. Gilbert was employed by Union Carbide Corporation as a Legal Assistant and retired after working with the State of Connecticut in its Social Services Department.

Mr. Brown, an avid history buff and antique car collector, is survived by his mother and five siblings: William Schongalla of Burton, Michigan, Lynn D. Brown of Danbury, Keith S. Brown of Southbury, Heather M. Brown-Olsen of New Canaan and Drew B. Brown of Danbury, as well as six nephews and nieces and four grand-nephews and nieces.

A graveside burial service was held at the Ridgebury Cemetery in Ridgefield, CT on August 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM. There were no calling hours. Gilbert wished for donations to be made to charity in lieu of flowers.
