Danbury To Host Statewide Animal Response Training Event

Danbury hosts statewide animal response training Aug. 23 to prepare volunteers to aid people and pets in emergencies.

DANBURY, CT — The Connecticut State Animal Response Team, in partnership with the American Red Cross and the Danbury Office of Emergency Management, will hold an animal response training session Saturday at the Danbury War Memorial.

The program, scheduled for Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., is designed to prepare volunteers to assist both people and pets during emergencies and disasters.

Training will include instruction on setting up and managing co-located shelters that allow families and their pets to stay together during evacuations. Organizers said the session will also feature a full-scale mock animal shelter demonstration, giving participants the opportunity to practice in real-world scenarios.
