Danbury Man Killed Small Dog After Strangling Wife: Police

Police say two children were at home during the incident.

DANBURY, CT — A city man was arrested after police say he assaulted his wife and killed a small dog at his home on Osborne Street Thursday night, Danbury Police announced last Friday. Wesley Texeira DeSouza, 39, was arrested at a friend's house shortly after the attack. Police say two children were at home during the attack.

Police say officers went to DeSouza's house for a domestic disturbance at 8:18 p.m. Investigators later found that DeSouza had gotten into a physical altercation with his wife where he strangled her, police allege. He was charged with strangulation, disorderly conduct, assault in the third degree, threatening in the second degree, cruelty to animals, and two counts of risk of injury to a child. He is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
