Is Danbury Mayor Boughton Flirting With the Idea of Running for Governor Again?

Danbury's eight-term Republican mayor recently renewed the domain name teamboughton.com.

Could eight-term Mayor Mark Boughton be considering running for Governor of Connecticut in 2018?

According to The News Times, Boughton renewed the domain name www.teamboughton.com and told the paper that he is looking "very closely" at the 2018 race.

Boughton recently reacted to Gov. Dannel Malloy's budget proposal which includes cutting funds to hospitals by criticizing Malloy on social media for his Tweeting:

"Should #Danbury secede from CT.? Give back state aid and form our own state. What should we call it? Should we allow Bethel in?"

He also Tweeted:

Boughton received the prestigious Prescott Bush award last June, the Connecticut GOP’s highest honor.

“Mark Boughton has shown remarkable leadership as the Mayor of Danbury and as an advocate for the principles of limited government and economic growth at the state and local level,” Jerry Labriola Jr., chairman of the state GOP, said in a statement published in the News Times.
