Danbury Plans Two-Day Juneteenth Celebration With Music, Vendors

Danbury's two-day 2025 Juneteenth celebration includes concerts, food trucks, exhibits, and family activities.

DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Juneteenth Coalition will host its fourth annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Community Celebration on June 20 and 21, marking the end of slavery in the United States and honoring African American culture and history.

The two-day event, themed “Thriving Together, Empowering Community: Faith, Family, Freedom,” begins Friday evening with live music and community gathering at CityCenter Green, 1 Ives St., from 7 to 9 p.m., in conjunction with the CityCenter Danbury Summer in the City concert series.

On Saturday, festivities will continue from noon to 5 p.m. at Western Connecticut State University’s Midtown Campus, 181 White St., featuring live entertainment, cultural and historical exhibits, local vendors, food trucks, a Kids’ Corner, wellness resources, and other family-friendly activities.

Organizers expect more than 300 attendees. The volunteer-run event is funded entirely by donations and sponsorships, with proceeds supporting event expenses. Local businesses, organizations, and residents are invited to participate as sponsors, vendors, or volunteers.
