Danbury Police Warn Residents About Text Scam Impersonating Mayor

Danbury police say scammers are impersonating Mayor Roberto Alves in text messages and urge residents not to respond.

DANBURY, CT — City police are alerting residents to a scam involving text messages that claim to be from Mayor Roberto Alves.

According to police, the fraudulent messages may ask recipients for assistance. Authorities said anyone who receives such a text should not reply. Suspicious phone calls should also be disconnected immediately, and personal or financial information should never be shared.

Police urged residents to report suspicious texts to the Danbury Police Department at 203-797-4611.
