When the legislature passed the state budget last week and Governor Lamont signed the budget into law this week, Danbury Youth Baseball was included in it as one of the recipients of the Youth Services Prevention Initiative Grant for the sum of $50,000.00. This grant funding was only possible because of the hard work and advocacy of State Representative Farley Santos. “Danbury Youth Baseball is thrilled to be selected as a recipient of the Youth Services Prevention Initiative Grant, which will be used to ensure our baseball program is accessible to anyone who wants to participate, and we are grateful that State Representative Farley Santos was able to secure this funding for us,” said Chris Hamann, President of Danbury Youth Baseball. “I want to thank Roberto Alves, parent and coach with Danbury Youth Baseball for bringing their need for this funding to my attention, said State Representative Farley Santos. “We worked together to secure these funds which will go a long way in making youth baseball in our community accessible to all children regardless of their family’s financial situation. As an underprivileged child who grew up unable to play sports because my family couldn’t afford the expense, I know how much these funds will help create a more equitable Danbury for our children and will help fill the gap of the lack of after-school activities for children in our community, said Rep. Santos”

Danbury Youth Baseball is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to create an environment where children of the Danbury community can learn fundamental baseball skills and develop a lifelong love for the game. We emphasize FUN above all else and use the sport of baseball to help the children develop friendships, and learn the importance of community, sportsmanship, accountability and respect for their peers, their parents, their coaches, and the umpires who officiate the games. We offer a spring season as well as a fall season, and we also offer free winter training for anyone who wants to participate during the off season.
