Granddaughter, 7, of Danbury Philanthropist Killed: Report

DANBURY, CT — The young granddaughter of a local philanthropist was allegedly killed in New York Tuesday, reports the News Times. Police say Noel Hord's granddaughter was apparently suffocated by her father. They reported to a Westchester home and found Gabrielle White dead in her bed and her father Neil White bleeding with wounds on his forearms.

White was held without bail ona murder charge. Hord's daughter, Michelle Hord-White, is Gabrielle's mother, reports the News Times.

The Hord Foundation has given more than $4.5 million in college scholarships to African-American students since 1993.
