Maria Baia Salgado, 'Mimi,' 58, of Danbury, Passed Away Peacefully

Mimi was a Danbury High School graduate and a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — Maria Baia Salgado, “Mimi,” 58, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday evening, August 23, 2016, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Mimi was born in Arcosso, Portugal on May 4, 1958; a daughter of Alzira (Baia) Salgado of Danbury and the late Cesar Salgado.

A resident of Danbury since emigrating from Portugal in 1971, Mimi was a Danbury High School graduate and a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of Danbury. She enjoyed traveling and spending her summers in Portugal.

Mimi is survived by her mother, Alzira and by her sisters, Ligia and Paula; all of Danbury. She is also survived by her aunts; Orinda Salgado, Maria da Luz Salgado and Maria de Lourdes Salgado of Portugal. In addition to her mother, sisters and aunts, Mimi is survived by her cousins; Luis Miguel Salgado Ferreira, Abilio Pedro Salgado Ferreira and Jose Salgado Batista da Costa, all of Portugal as well as Sal Salgado of Danbury. Mimi was predeceased by her father, Cesar. She will be dearly missed and always loved by her family.

Funeral services are private. Interment will take place in Arcosso, Portugal.Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury is in charge of funeral arrangements.
