Party Affiliation:
Democrat

Occupation:
Mayor of the City of Danbury

Family:
Yes, my wife Robyn and I have two children, Caralina and Julius, and we have a dog: Abby!

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Yes, I was first elected to the city Council from 2019 - 2021, and was honored to be elected Mayor in 2023.

Why are you seeking this office?
I grew up in Danbury and I love our city. I went to Danbury Public Schools, met my wife Robyn in high school, and we’re raising our kids here because we believe in this city. It’s why I got involved in public service in the first place, and it’s why I ran for Mayor.

Since taking office, I’ve worked every day to make sure city government works for the people who live here. We’ve delivered more state funding than ever before. We’ve hired more police and firefighters, paved roads that had been neglected for years, protected and expanded community spaces, and broken ground on long-overdue projects like the new Westside firehouse. We’re making progress because we’re focused on getting things done.

I’m running for re-election because I love this city, and I believe in what we can achieve together. We’re fixing what was broken, investing in our future, and proving that when you put in the work, real results follow.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
I ran for Mayor because I felt the most pressing issues were quality education and making our roads safer.

In two years, after 23 Town halls, it is clear these issues have long impacted every neighborhood.

Which is why I’ve been focused on both through historic funding to our schools, paving double the average miles of road, and increasing traffic enforcement by 300% in my first two years in office.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The difference is leadership built on results. As mayor, I have managed the city’s budget responsibly, strengthened public safety, improved roads and infrastructure, and increased education funding two years in a row. I fought for and delivered historic state funding for Danbury that is helping us make long-overdue investments in our schools and neighborhoods. My focus is on continuing that progress and building a stronger future for every resident.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Public safety, our local economy, roads and infrastructure, education, and responsible fiscal management.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As mayor, I have delivered real results for Danbury. We've secured historic state funding that is improving our schools, roads, and public safety facilities. My administration has worked to strengthen our city’s finances through responsible budgeting, getting our delayed audits back on track, fully staffing our finance department, protected our taxpayers by keeping Danbury’s mill rate among the lowest in the region, and I always support our first responders with the staffing and resources they need to keep our city safe. These accomplishments reflect my ability to lead effectively, manage complex challenges, and keep Danbury moving forward.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Both of my Grandmothers, and my Mom say: “Tem juízo” in Portuguese, which means, use good judgment.
