Police Reveal Nature of Abbott Tech Bomb Scare

Students were dismissed from school due to the threat.

DANBURY, CT — Henry Abbott Technical High School was evacuated due to a reported bomb threat Monday, according to Trooper Kelly Grant of the Connecticut State Police. The threat was written on the men's bathroom wall, and was ruled unfounded after troopers and K9 teams swept the school.

Students were dismissed from school, and troopers had cleared the school as of 12:02 p.m. Authorities responded at around 9:30 a.m. Monday for the threat, said Grant. Mayor Mark Boughton tweeted Monday the Hayestown School was on a soft lockdown.

The Hayestown Avenue technical high school hosts students from 18 towns, according to its website. According to a report from the News Times, there was a bomb threat at the school in 2008.
