Samaritans Brave Murky Waters to Save Injured Teen from Sinking SUV: PD
Two city residents and an off-duty police officer acted quickly after seeing a car partially submerged in Ball Pond Tuesday.
DANBURY, CT — After seeing a sinking Jeep Liberty in Ball Pond with a teenage girl trapped inside, two city residents and a police officer acted quickly to save the teen from further injuries, according to Danbury Police. Chris Dimauro, 32, and Danielle Lo Medico, 28, and off-duty Danbury Police Sergeant Adam Marcus quickly jumped into the pond after passing by the partially-submerged SUV.
At 7:01 a.m. Tuesday, the three came up on the scene and saw the SUV approximately 50 feet from the shoreline. The group was able to free the 17-year-old girl, and stabilize her until paramedics arrived.
"The Danbury PD is proud of the three individuals who rescued a teenager from her partially submerged vehicle earlier this week," wrote the police department in a Facebook post."Danbury PD is glad we have brave people like these in our communities."

Police say the teen was driving south on Ball Pond Road when she lost control and hit a telephone post along with several guard posts before plunging into the pond. She was transported to Danbury Hospital for her injuries.
