Three Arrested in Danbury Heroin Trafficking Bust: PD

DANBURY, CT — Three city residents were arrested Thursday following a weeks-long investigation into heroin sales in the city, according to a press release from Danbury Police Lt. Mark Williams. Denzel Wilkins, 24, and Tiffany Ortiz, 25, face a series of drug trafficking charges, and Marissa Palumbo, 25, faces a possession charge. Police say a young child was also found during the arrest, and the department of children and families was notified.

Following complaints from the public, police began investigating Ortiz and Wilkins and secured search warrants for their Main Street home. Police say they later saw Wilkins and Palumbo making a drug deal, and found he had heroin packaged for sale. Palumbo was seen hiding suspected drugs in her shirt, according to police.

After stopping Wilkins, police headed to his apartment and found Ortiz along with the child. Police say they also found more heroin packaged for sale and cash believed to be proceeds from the drug sales.

Ortiz and Wilkins were both charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession within 1,500 feet of a prohibited place, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a prohibited place, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a child. Wilkins was also charged with sale of narcotics and sale within 1,500 feet of a prohibited place.

Wilkins was held on a $25,000 bond and Ortiz was held on a $2,500 bond.

Palumbo was charged with possession of a narcotic substance. She was released with a promise to appear in court.
