WCHN Announces Six New Directors

WCHN has announced the addition of six new directors to help philanthropic support to advance programs and services in local hospitals.

From WCHN: The Foundation Boards of Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN), which include the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation Board; the Norwalk Hospital Foundation Board; and the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation Associate Board have announced the addition of six new directors.The Foundation Boards of WCHN work to mobilize philanthropic support to advance programs and services at Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and the Network.Joining the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation Board are:S. Javed Shahid, MD – Chief of the Section of Neurosurgery at Danbury Hospital, Shahid’s scope of practice and advanced surgical procedures include microneurosurgery, laser surgery, stereotactic intracranial surgery, intradiscal spinal therapy, and automated percutaneous discectomies.

He performed the first transphenoidal surgery at Norwalk Hospital and the first basilar aneurysm surgery at Danbury Hospital. A physician at Neurosurgical Associates of Southwestern Connecticut, PC, Shahid is a graduate of Dow Medical College University of Karachi, Pakistan and completed medical residencies in both general surgery and neurosurgery at SUNY Downstate - King County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, and an internship at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn. He served as chief resident in Neurology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, NY and chief resident in Neurosurgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.Jo-Anne L. Smith – The senior vice president and commercial lending regional manager at mutual financial services organization Union Savings Bank, Smith has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial lending industry as well as extensive credit experience in permanent, bridge and construction lending for all asset types including subdivisions, multifamily, retail centers, office, industrial and special use facilities. She specializes in cultivating and managing a breadth of investor types including institutional, corporate and private investors and developers.Gregory L. Steiner – Co-principal and the third generation of family-owned real estate and development firms Steiner, Inc. and Berkshire Industrial Corporation, Steiner has played a leading role in developing the Greater Danbury Area’s Berkshire Corporate Park, as well as hundreds of homes in the Bethel and Brookfield area. Steiner and his family have been in business for over 70 years and have developed, built, renovated and managed over 2.5 million square feet of residential and commercial properties throughout Fairfield County. The development of long-term relationships within the local business community and the support of community organizations is an integral part of the Steiner family’s business model.Current directors of the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation Board include:

Joining the Norwalk Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is:Shaena McPadden – Ms. McPadden is an Associate Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. McPadden advises entrepreneurs, corporate executives, private investors, and endowments and foundations in the healthcare and biotechnology arena on all aspects of wealth management including investment management, trust and estate planning, and banking and credit services. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, she was a senior analyst in the Healthcare and Antitrust Practice of NERA Economic Consulting, a subsidiary of the Oliver Wyman Group.

Prunty –The Executive Director of CityCenter Danbury, Prunty previously served as the Community Services Coordinator for the City of Danbury, where he assisted Danbury residents and represented the Mayor’s office on several citywide commissions and boards. He joined the staff of City Hall in 2010. Prunty holds a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in ethical leadership from Marist College and an undergraduate degree in political science from Hartwick College. Born and raised in Danbury, he is a 2006 graduate of Danbury High School.Joshua Weinshank, Esq. – A partner at law firm Cramer & Anderson, Weinshank focuses his practice on trust and estate planning, elder law, and trust and probate administration. Working primarily from Cramer & Anderson’s Danbury office, he serves as the Firm’s Fairfield County Trust and Estate Planning and Administration Group Leader. Weinshank holds an LL.M. in estate planning and elder law and a J.D. from Western New England University School of Law, where he served as assistant editor of the University’s Law Review.Current directors of the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation Associate Board include:
