2025 Leaf Pickup Schedule Announced In Darien
Here's what to know about this year's leaf pickup operations in Darien.
DARIEN, CT — The 2025 leaf pickup schedule has been announced in Darien.
The Darien Department of Public Works will pick up leaves according to the schedule below:
- Pick-up No. 1: Monday, Nov. 3, North of the railroad tracks; and Wednesday, Nov. 5, south of the railroad tracks.
- Pick-up No. 2: Monday, Nov. 17, north of the railroad Tracks; and Wednesday, Nov. 19, south of the railroad tracks.
- Pick-up No. 3: Monday, Dec. 1, north of the railroad tracks; and Wednesday, Dec. 3, south of the railroad tracks.
The schedule is subject to minor variations due to the volume of leaves encountered, snow storms, or other unforeseen circumstances, the town said.

Residents should be mindful of the following:
- Leaves will only be picked up if bagged and bags are made of paper. Loose leaves or leaves in plastic bags will not be collected. Please check your local hardware or big box store and supermarket for availability. Some paper bags are not marked 100 percent biodegradable. The town will collect paper bags that are commonly purchased from suppliers such as Home Depot, Lowes, Rings End Lumber or other supplier provided bags are obviously made of paper.
- Bags must contain only leaves. Bags containing brush, grass clippings, garbage, or other material will not be collected.
- Residents are not required to participate in the town leaf pickup. Residents are encouraged to compost leaves on their property.
- Dates listed are start dates. Bagged leaves should be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the first morning of the date listed.
- Once leaves have been collected, no return trips will be made until the next scheduled pick-up.
- Leaves will be collected on public roads only. Residents of private roads should make their own arrangements for leaf collection.
- Residents with proper permit may also dispose of leaves at the Darien Transfer Station.
The town said no other information will be available regarding specific leaf pick-up times.
