Slideshow: Caps Fly as DHS Class of 2010 Marks Graduation

Decked out in blue and white, about 270 seniors put the capstone on their high school careers Monday.

Doing their best to fend off the sweltering heat, hundreds of family and friends turned out to Darien High School Monday evening as members of the class of 2010 marked their graduation. The event saw speeches by valedictorian Andrew Gagne, salutatorian Stephanie Ko, Board of Education chair Kim Westcott, outgoing superintendent Don Fiftal, and Principal Dan Haron. Musical performances—Smash Mouth's "All Star" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujuah" among them—punctuated glowing words about the new graduates, as well as the awarding of six honorary degrees to Fiftal and a lineup of retiring teachers.
