Update: Woman Sustained Life-Threatening Injuries in Darien Accident
The crash closed Mansfield Avenue for more than three hours Monday morning.

A 19-year-old New Hartford woman sustained life-threatening injuries after her vehicle crossed the double yellow line and smashed into an oncoming car on Mansfield Avenue Monday morning.
The accident happened around 7 a.m. just north of Middlesex Road. A Honda Accord traveling southbound crossed the double yellow line and struck a northbound Chevy Trailblazer head-on, police said. It appears the Accord was speeding.
The 19-year-old driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The Trailblazer operator, a 59-year-old New Canaan woman was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police closed down the road for more than three hours as they investigated the crash. Officers from the night and day shift worked together to direct many traffic detours during the busy commuting hours.
