Update 5:56 p.m.:
The Darien Arts Center and the YWCA Darien-Norwalk will both be closed on Tuesday.

Update 3:45 p.m.:
Darien officials are expecting widespread power outages and they expect the blackouts to last for a while, Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson said in a Code Red message to the town Monday. In part, she said:

We are anticipating widespread and long duration power outages. Utility crews are prohibited from responding during high winds. Please be prepared to shelter at home during any power outages. Call CL&P, not the Darien Police Department to report outages.

Update 3:08 p.m.:
The Darien Y will be closed, but if the power goes out, you don’t have to be a member to get a hot shower there or recharge your cell phone.
The Darien YMCA announced this afternoon that it “will not offer programs this [Monday] afternoon (beginning at 12 noon), and will close tonight at 6:00PM. Fitness classes will still be held until closing.
“The Y will also be closed Tuesday, with the goal to open regular business hours and full programming on Wednesday, Jan 28.
“In the event there are power outages in town (or heat the Y), the Y does have a generator that can provide basic services to members and the community, e.g., hot showers and cell phone charging, etc.”
Update, 2:31 p.m.:
Darien Library has announced that it closes at 3 p.m. Monday and will not open on Tuesday. “Meanwhile, visit our digital library to keep the kids busy while you’re snowed in,” the library suggested in the announcement. ”Stay safe out there!”

The latest estimate on how much snow may accumulate in Westport, from the National Weather Service, is 18 to 29 inches, through Tuesday night.
- Darien Public Schools are closing early on Monday.
- The Darien Community Association has announced it will close early at noon on Monday and will be closed all day on Tuesday. “Today’s Duplicate Bridge class is cancelled; morning classes will be held. [...] We hope to reopen for Wednesday at normal hours (from 9 a.m.). Updates will be posted at dariendca.org and the DCA’s Facebook & Twitter accounts.”
The National Weather service has issued a ”Blizzard Warning” for much of Connecticut, including Darien, from 1 p.m. Monday to midnight Tuesday/Wednesday.
The weather service has also issued a Coastal Flood Watch from 3 to 7 a.m., Tuesday for Darien and other Long Island Sound communities.

- Monday: Periods of snow. High near 26. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Blustery, with a northeast wind 16 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
- Monday night: Snow with widespread blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 20. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Blustery, with a north wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible.
- Tuesday: Snow with widespread blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. High near 23. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Blustery, with a north wind 22 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.
- Tuesday Night: Light snow, mainly before 9pm. Low around 15. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Northwest wind 14 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
- Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. North wind 10 to 14 mph.
- Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13.
- Thursday: A chance of light snow after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 28. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Thursday Night: Light snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
