Darien High School Girls Swimming & Diving Team Off To Strong Start

The Blue Wave girls swimming and diving team is off to another fast start on the young season.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien High School girls swimming and diving team is off to another strong start this year.

The team, which has won three open championships, 18 state championships, finished state runner up four times, and third place once all under Coach Marj Trifone, is 3-0 on the young season.

The Blue Wave defeated St. Joseph 99 to 63, Fairfield Warde 106 to 68, and Staples High School 101 to 76.

These wins include 30 individual first place events, 17 individual second place events, and 28 individual third place events.

The divers, who compete separately, have earned first, second and third places against both Fairfield Warde and Staples. St. Joseph does not have divers.

Last year, the team captured the CIAC Class L girls swimming and diving championship.

The team's next meet is scheduled for Sept. 28 at Wilton.
