Darien Man's NY Arrest on 8-y/o Stalking Charge

A traffic violation at Westchester County Airport leads to the discovery of a 2004 warrant from Port Chester, NY, police said.

A Darien man stopped for a traffic violation at Westchester County Airport has been arrested on charges in connection with a stalking incident in Port Chester more than eight years ago, according to Port Chester Police.

Urvelt Cayo, 53, of Noroton Avenue in Darien was stopped at the airport by Westchester County Police, who discovered that he was wanted by Port Chester Police on a warrant issued in 2004. Cayo was brought to Port Chester Police Headquarters, where he was arrested on the charge of second-degree stalking.

Port Chester Police Lt. James Ladeairous said the charges stem from an investigation that led to the warrant being issued in July 2004. Ladeairous said a woman, who lived in Port Chester at the time, complained that she was receiving harassing telephone calls at work from Cayo and was being followed by him.

The woman, Ladeairous said, obtained a court-issued order for Cayo to stay away from her. The woman also moved into a friend's home to get away from Cayo, Ladeairous said.

Cayo faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
