Slideshow: Darien Marks Veterans Day in Town Hall Ceremony

Veterans, public officials, and other residents gathered at Town Hall Friday for a ceremony honoring the sacrifices made by members of the U.S. military, past and present.
The event, which was broadcast to Darien Public Schools via channel 79, featured a VFW color guard, a flag raising, and a laying of roses by Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 55.
Jeff Calcott, junior commander of Darien VFW Post 6933, led the observance, which concluded at exactly 11:11 a.m.

Calcott spoke briefly about the history of Veterans Day and led the crowd in a moment of silence. He concluded with a reading of the 1915 poem "In Flanders Fields."
